WCTC plumbing apprentices top skills competition

Three plumbing apprenticeship students from Waukesha County Technical College took home honors from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin’s skill competition on Jan. 31.

PEWAUKEE – Three plumbing apprenticeship students from Waukesha County Technical College took home honors from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin’s skill competition on Jan. 31.

Caleb Warnke, Kristian Entwistle and Alex Sadler won first place, second place and third place respectively during the competition at Washington County Fair Park. A total of 40 apprentices took part in the competition, with nine being plumbers. Each plumbing apprentice was given the same amount of materials and a plan to complete a task.

The competition has been held for 30 years.

“(The) instruction we provide at WCTC is a fast-paced, progressive learning environment backed by theory,” said Ken Dickerson, WCTC plumbing apprenticeship instructor. “This style of learning meshes with their daily on-the-job training perfectly, creating very high-level apprentices.”

ABC Contractors President John Mielke said the organization was proud of all competitors passionate about their trades who came out for the career opportunity.
